The figure in the photo shows the costume of a girl who works as a housemaid in the merchant's town house of Kamigata (=Osaka & Kyoto) area in the late Edo era. Her hair is in the Shimada-style (=applied and taken down); she wears a striped cotton "kosode", a kimono with short sleeves, and she ties the "obi" band on the back. The "kosode" kimono was actually used at the Kinokuniya store.
